DNS Records Explained (A, MX, CNAME, TXT)

DNS records are the instructions that tell your domain how to behave. Understanding them is essential if you want full control over your domain.

Here are the most important types:

• A Record
  Points your domain to an IP address (your server)
• MX Record
  Handles email routing (where your emails go)
• CNAME Record
  Creates an alias (e.g., www → your main domain)
• TXT Record
  Stores verification or security data (used by services like email providers)

For example, if you want your website to load, you’ll use an A record. If you want email to work, you’ll configure MX records.

Even though DNS might seem technical, once you understand these basics, managing your domain becomes much easier.
